Arnold “Arnie” Emery Evans Arnold Evans was born on the family farm in Haviland, Kiowa County, Kansas, March 26, 1938. Deceased November 01, 2014. He was the last of eight children by Nora Linton and Budd Evans. Arnold was 76 years old. Prior to marrying Phyllis M. Riley, 14 February 1960, in Pratt, Kansas, Arnie served four years in the U.S. Airforce. In 1961 Arnold was employed by the AVCO Corporation in Denver, Colorado as a Field Service Representative on the Minute Man and Atlas Missile programs. His daughter Crystal was born in January 1961 in Denver. Family with new born daughter moved to ten different locations in a two year period. Arnold attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado during the 1965-1966 time frame. Euless, Texas was the next stop in November 1966. Arnie trained as a Lycoming Engine Representative on Bell Helicopters and subsequently served two tours in Viet Nam. He served fourteen months in Tehran, Iran for Lycoming. Garrett AiResearch, aka. AlliedSignal, hired Arnold in April of 1974 as a Propulsion Field Service Engineer where he served 3 years in Germany until retiring in 1992. Arnie was a licensed Aircraft Pilot as well as a Flight Instructor. He enjoyed flying, radio controlled model aircraft, as well as fishing, hunting and traveling. Arnold was preceded in death by: his parents, Nora and Budd Evans; brother Ralph E. Evans; sister Margaret L. Evans Patee; Homer O. Evans; Ester Helen Evans Roberts; Roy J. Evans; Floyd Henry Evans and Merle Edward Evans. Arnie is survived by: his daughter Crystal G. Evans Trowbridge; grand-daughter Riley K. Trowbridge; Melvin L. Patee; E. Leroy Patee and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 in Haviland Cemetery, Haviland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Fleener Funeral Home, 514 South Main Street, Greensburg, Kansas, 67054.
