Greensburg- Betty Joan Unruh, 93, passed away peacefully June 27, 2020 at Bethel Home, Montezuma, Kansas. She was born August 19, 1926 in Fairview, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank J. and Ella (Nichols) Nightengale. Betty attended school in Fairview. She was a homemaker. She had lived in Fairview, Scott City, Kansas, Greensburg and Montezuma. On December 19, 1948 Betty married Gordon Unruh in Fairview. He survives. Other survivors include a son Lowell Unruh, Greensburg, Kansas, two daughters Nancy Unruh and husband Kenneth, Lewis, Kansas, and Judy Smith and husband Kevin, Fairview, one brother John Nightengale, Fairview, a sister-in-law Joan Nightengale, Walnut Hill, Florida, six Grandchildren Matthew Unruh and wife Andrea, Hesston, Kansas, Amanda Ratzlaff and husband Kelly, Lewis, Kansas, Teresa Gerber and husband Kevin, Blanchard, Oklahoma, Makenzie Cottrell and husband Leon, Durham, North Carolina, Tyrone Smith and wife Maryann Smith-Kamunge, Wichita, Kansas, Micah Unruh, Kansas City, Missouri, and eleven Great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by five brothers, Harlan, Virgil, Donald, Marvin and Curtis Nightengale and two sisters Irene and Janette Nightengale. Funeral service and celebration of Betty’s life will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Greensburg with Pastors Mark Dirks and Rod Nace presiding. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Greensburg. A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at the church.
