Mullinville- Charles Gene Hurley, 70, died July 15, 2023 at his home in Mullinville, Kansas. He was born June 1, 1953 in San Angelo, Texas, the son of Charles Grady and Etta May (Boyer) Hurley. Charles graduated from Augusta High School, Augusta, Kansas and then joined the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Charles had worked as a cross country truck driver. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Augusta and a lifetime member of the VFW. On June 1, 2016 Charles married Reda (Davis) Hoffer in Greensburg. She survives. Other survivors include three sons Joseph Terrones, Russell Hoffer and Richard Hoffer, all of Wichita, Kansas, two daughters Rochelle Graham and husband Michael, Udall, Kansas and LaDawna Dehart and husband Anthony, Columbus, Nebraska, fourteen Grandchildren and fifteen Great Grandchildren, three sisters Bonnie Chriestenson and husband Bill, Ashdown, Arkansas, Darlene Thompson and husband Kenny and Rena Welch and husband Terry, all of Edwards, Missouri, and stepmother Peggy Brandt. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother Etta May Brandt, stepfather Vernon Brandt, and a sister Martha Albert. Funeral services and celebration of Charles’ life will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Fleener Funeral Home, Greensburg, with Rev. Alex Karimu presiding. Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, Kansas. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, July 19 at the Funeral Home.
