Haviland- Clifton Darrel Clark, 90, died December 9, 2018 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born July 16, 1928 north-east of Haviland, KS to Clarence “Slim” and Flossie Clark and was a lifetime resident of the town. Clifton was a Haviland Dragon thru and thru. He graduated from Haviland High School in 1946 and drove a bus for the school for 52 years, driving kids to and from school, sporting events, school functions and class field trips. He was a member of the chain gang at home football games and ran scoreboard at volleyball and basketball games for many of those years. He was also farmer, raised cattle and was a Dekalb Seed Dealer. Clifton’s memberships include the Haviland United Methodist Church and the NRA. On December 31, 1947 Clifton married Betty Jo Hiler in Haviland. She survives.
Other survivors include 2 sons Darry and his wife Corla of Haviland and Rob and his wife Judy of Fairmount Indiana; by a brother Doyle Clark, Haviland; a sister-in-law, Sandy Clark, Hastings NE; 7 grandchildren Chateece Rickard (Cory), of Plains, KS, Julie Rowan (Jason), Bentonville, AR, Kandyce Taylor (Steve), Colorado Springs, CO, C.D Clark III (Sheila), Hays, KS, Jayci Smitherman (Dwight), Haviland, Kamryn Mauldin (Raymond), Marion, IN and Russ Clark, Marion IN; 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brennan Clark, a brother Manford Clark and a sister-in-law Lou Ann Clark.
Funeral Services and celebration of Clifton’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday December 14, 2018 at Thompson Gymnasium, Haviland, Kansas with Pastor Mark Fillmore presiding. Burial will follow in Haviland Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Fleener Funeral Home, Greensburg, Kansas.
