Doris Jeanette Headrick

Mullinville – Doris Jeanette Headrick, 89, died May 18, 2026, at the Hill Top House, Bucklin, Kansas. She was born June 1, 1936, south of Haviland, Kansas, the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Elsie Fern (Kendall) Kesinger. Doris graduated from Haviland High School. She had lived in Haviland and Mullinville since 1956. Doris worked at the Mullinville State Bank as a loan officer and Vice President. She was a member of the Mullinville United Methodist Church, P.T.D. Club, served on the Kiowa County Hospital Board and the Kiowa County Veterans Memorial Board. On May 18, 1956, Doris married Bobby Joe Headrick in Clayton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death June 17, 2001. Survivors include one son Rick Headrick (Hannah), Mullinville, three daughters Terri Abbott (Mark) Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Jana Riegel (Bart), Elk City, Oklahoma, Sharla Headrick (Bill Woods), Goddard, Kansas, seven grandchildren Halie Headrick, Sydney Brown (Colter), Alan Abbott (Sammantha), Lauren Daming (Chris), Jenni Roberts (Gunnar), Bobbi Koehn (Daniel), Megan Ruhl (John), nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Don Kesinger and wife Virginia, and Fred Kesinger and wife Dianne. Doris was well known for her creativity and funny skits for PTD. Her doughnuts and dinner rolls were famous. She was generous and a great mom, who designed clothes for all her kids and grandkids. Memorial services and celebration of Doris’s life will be 10:00 am, Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Mullinville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Alex Bob Karimu presiding. Inurnment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Mullinville United Methodist Church.
