Mullinville- Elton C. Martin, 86, died July 7, 2013 at Hill Top House, Bucklin, Kansas. He was born April 7, 1927 in Syracuse, Kansas, the son of J.C. and Elizabeth (Nagel) Martin. He had lived in Syracuse, Greensburg, and Mullinville since 1937. Elton graduated from Mullinville High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1945 -’46. He was the head of transportation for U.S.D.#424 Mullinville for forty years retiring in 1989. He was the owner/operator of E. Martin sales and rentals since 1961. Elton dug graves at the Hillcrest Cemetery since 1970. He was a member of the Mullinville United Methodist Church. On June 3, 1949, Elton married Doris Velma Miller in Wichita, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1984. He is survived two sons Terry Lynn Martin and wife Sherry, Garden City, Kansas, and Michael Dean Martin and wife Patty, Peck, Kansas, one daughter Elta Kay Rose and husband John, Mullinville, two brothers Kenneth Martin and wife Betty, and Vernon Martin and wife Sue, one sister Norma Baysdorfer and husband John, ten Grandchildren and seventeen Great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son Robert Clair Martin in 1969 and a Great-grandchild. Funeral services and celebration of Elton’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Mullinville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville. A visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Fleener Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Mullinville United Methodist Church in care of Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S.
