Greensburg- Sarah Elizabeth Schmidt, 92, died April 11, 2025, at the Stafford County Hospital, Stafford, Kansas. She was born February 28, 1933, in Wilmore, Kansas, the daughter of William and Louisa (McMillan) Kennedy. Sarah graduated from Wilmore High School in 1951 and had lived in Wilmore and Greensburg, Kansas. She was a member of the Greensburg Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, both of Greensburg. Sarah had several different jobs in her life from telephone operator to retail sales as well as owning several businesses with Harold. On May 2, 1954, Sarah married Harold Schmidt in Wilmore. He preceded her in death May 14, 2007. She is survived by a son Willie Schmidt (Joyce), Greensburg, a daughter Kathy Schmidt (Ray), Jonestown, Texas, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Schmidt, Pratt, Kansas, a sister Betty Morrow, Albuquerque, New Mexico., fourteen grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and special friends Bob and Bessie. Sarah was also preceded in death by three sons, James Schmidt, Mike Schmidt and an infant Melvin Schmidt, one brother Harold Kennedy, two sisters Thelma Retzlaff and Dorothy Nicholson. Funeral services and celebration of Sarah’s life will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Cornerstone Fellowship (South Campus), Greensburg, with pastors Jon Harrison and Keith Dellenbach presiding. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. A visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at Fleener Funeral Home, Greensburg.
