Hesston- William Ray Smith, 90, died January 6, 2023 at Showalter Villa Health Care, Hesston, Kansas. He was born June 3, 1932, in Greensburg, Kansas, the son of Roy H. and Ethel Anna (Cobb) Smith. Ray graduated from Greensburg High School and worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline for 27 years, and was a farmer/rancher. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Ray had lived in Greensburg, Hutchinson and Hesston, Kansas. He was a member of the Hesston United Methodist Church. On August 1, 1954 Ray married Nadine Hadley in Coldwater, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include a son Mark (Juanita) Smith, Deer Creek, Illinois, three daughters Ashanna (Dennis) Richards, Greeley, Kansas; Deanne Martin, Hutchinson, Kansas; Leslie (Doug) Miller, Memphis; Tennessee, twelve grandchildren: Kara, Kymberly, Shaelee, Jaron, Jake, Jill, Curtis, Tyler, K.D., Caiytlin, Myichael, Blayze; twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother Walter Smith and two sisters Marjorie Davis and Mary Hayse. A memorial graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Greensburg Fairview Cemetery with Chaplin Peter Hartman presiding.
